When a device passes the FCC certification, there’s a varying degree of information we can glean from it. Sometimes, the filing will make the device obvious. However, in this case, there’s nothing really to go on.
This unknown Google device could be anything, as the FCC filing doesn’t say much
Google is in a different spot with its hardware at this point. There’s the hardware we expect from the subsidiaries Nest and Fitbit. We also can’t forget the Chromecast devices. However, the budding Pixel ecosystem obfuscates Google’s hardware endeavors. Now that the company is working on more Google-made devices, it puts into question what this unknown device could be. As for the FCC filing, we see the model number G454V and the FCC ID: A4RG454V. One thing pointed out by Droid Life is the fact that the FCC label will be placed on the bottom of the device. This means that this device will have a large enough bottom for a label. This eliminated devices with a watch or smartphone/tablet form factor. Further, the filing reveals that this is a wireless device that can use several WLAN bands and it also uses Bluetooth technology. Other than that, all of the information is up to speculation. From what we can tell, it’s not a phone nor is it the Pixel Watch. It’s possible that it’s a new version of the Chromecast or maybe a new Nest home device. Since this device passed the FCC certification, it shouldn’t be too long before we see more on this device.
