August security update reaches the Galaxy A72 & Galaxy A32 in Europe

The August SMR (Security Maintenance Release) for the Galaxy A72 is rolling out to users in Russia with firmware version A725FXXU4BVG2. The Galaxy A32 is also getting the update in Russia bearing firmware version A325FXXU2BVH1. Neither model is picking up any new features with the latest release. The changelog only mentions system stability and reliability improvements along with last month’s vulnerability fixes. Samsung has already detailed the August SMR. It contains patches for over 60 vulnerabilities, about half of which are specific to Galaxy devices. They affect various components of the Korean firm’s Android-powered smartphones and tablets. The company labeled some of them as critical flaws, compromising the security of components such as App Lock, Knox VPN, Samsung DeX, NFC, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and others. The other half of the vulnerabilities fixed with the August SMR are from Google and affect the entire Android ecosystem, including Samsung’s products. The Android maker only labeled one of those as a critical flaw. It allowed remote code execution over Bluetooth. So anyone could remotely execute code on a victim’s device and launch a devastating attack. All of these security fixes are now rolling out to Samsung’s Galaxy A72 and Galaxy A32 smartphones. If you’re using either of these phones, you’ll get the update over the air (OTA) soon if you haven’t already. You’ll be notified to download the OTA package once available. You can also manually check for updates from the Settings app.

Both of these Samsung mid-ranges will get Android 13

Samsung launched the Galaxy A72 and Galaxy A32 in the first quarter of 2021. They arrived with Android 11 out of the box and received the Android 12 update earlier this year. The phones will also get Android 13, which will bring Samsung’s One UI 5.0 custom skin. The big Android update for the two may arrive in early 2023. The Korean firm will first cover its flagship models before switching focus to mid-rangers. We will let you know when the Android 13 rolls out to these phones.
