This is a new tri-band designed router that has WiFi 6E, as well as WiFi 5 and WiFi 6. So it works on the 2.4GHz, 5GHz and 6GHz spectrums. That allows for a lot more traffic to go through the router. That’s important these days with so many smart home products being connected to our network. A few years ago, most homes had about 3 devices (on average) connected to the Internet. Now, that number is around 25. Nest is making this a really affordable option for WiFi 6E, starting at $199. With a three-pack costing just $399. That isn’t much more than the existing Nest WiFi which is $169 and $349, respectively.
Nest WiFi Pro supports Matter and Thread Border Router
WiFi 6E isn’t the only big feature on the Nest WiFi Pro. It also adds support for Matter and Thread Border Router. This is all big for the future of the smart home, and makes the Nest WiFi Pro a bit more future proof. The Nest WiFi Pro is going to be available in four colors: Snow, Fog, Linen and Lemongrass. So you could get it to match your Pixel 7, that will be announced in a few days. Speaking of colors, the Nest WiFi Pro was built with over 60% of recycled materials. And it is was also designed to fit in with your home decor. So you’re more likely to put it somewhere in plain sight. That is going to give you better internet speeds, and that’s important. Now, unlike the Nest WiFi, the Pro model does not have a Google Assistant speaker built-in. Nest found out that users don’t typically put their routers where their smart speakers would be. So decided not to add it this time around. Which also likely helped keep the price down. Pre-orders for the Nest WiFi Pro start today, and it will be available on October 27. Again, it is $199 for a single router, and $399 for three.
