The At a Glance widget can do a lot of things at the moment. It can show you Nest Doorbell previews, the battery status of your Bluetooth earphones when you connect them, a notification when your flashlight is on, and so on. Commute times feature may also be coming.
Google’s At a Glance widget may be able to track your food orders soon
The ability to track your food orders could be next in line (before or after commute times), and it makes sense. It will essentially send you status updates for the food and household delivery orders. The feature is not yet live, but it seems to be on the way. Folks over at 9to5Google spotted a “Food and household orders” toggle that Google plans to use. That option is a part of the options accessible through Google Assistant, which is a bit weird.
We suspect this feature will work similarly to regular notifications from food delivery services. You’ll be notified when the food is being prepared, when it has been picked up, and on the status of the driver as he’s getting closer to your home.
Let’s hope all major food delivery services will be supported
Google is expected to make this feature a reality in the near future, but we don’t know when. If we had to guess, though, we’d say that it will arrive as part of a Pixel Feature Drop. This means it could arrive next month, unless Google ends up rolling it out differently, as a server-side change or something of the sort. We’ll have to wait and see.
