Everyone gobbed over this phone in preparation for its July launch. However, a lot of the hype was extinguished when we found out that it was not making its way to the States. Also, people soon realized that this phone didn’t really bring much outside of the core Android experience. It’s a neat-looking mid-range phone, and that’s pretty much it. What it lacks in software uniqueness, it makes up for with eccentric hardware. This phone has the transparent back glass with an array of LED lights called the Glyph Interface. Also, there is a red light on the back to indicate when the phone is recording or taking pictures.

The new Nothing Phone (1) update brings useful changes

The latter two features mentioned are getting updates with this latest OTA. Starting off with the recording indicator, it will be enabled by default. This means that you won’t have to go and manually enable the feature. More camera-centric changes include sharper videos with improved stability and new support for Google AR core. This next addition is relevant if you live in India. The Nothing Phone (1) can now access 5G networks if you use the Reliance Jio network. There are other minor changes. The Nothing Phone (1)’s Glyph charging light now syncs with sound effects and the Flip To Glyph animation is more reactive. The launcher is now more fluid, the screen is brighter when viewing HDR content, and there are updated NFC sound effects. Last but not least, you have the expected rounds of bug fixes and stability optimizations. With this update, users will be on Nothing OS version 1.1.6. It weighs 62.41MB, so it’s not a gigantic update. However, we’re not expecting this phone to get Android 13 until sometime in the first half of next year. So, at this point, Nothing Phone (1) uses should take as many updates as they can get.
