OnePlus already has a line of earbuds out on the market under the name OnePlus Buds and OnePlus Buds Pro. The latter buds are targeted at the premium market, and they gathered some pretty good reviews. You get the usual host of premium features like noise cancellation and good sound quality.
The OnePlus Nord Buds were spotted in leaked live images
Now, we have some new leaked live images of the OnePlus Nord Buds. OnePlus is looking to bring another pair of earbuds to the market, and these look to have a different design mentality. The regular OnePlus Buds shared some design cues with the AirPods. This means that the company opted for hard plastic tips rather than rubber ones. With the Nord Buds, it almost looks like OnePlus will be using rubber tips like with the OnePlus Buds Pro. That should be good for those who prefer replaceable tips. There’s a small protrusion on the tip of the earbuds that look like it’ll hold a rubber tip. This is all based on the leak, so you should take this with a grain of salt. The differences don’t stop there. With the original OnePlus Buds and Buds Pro, the bottoms are long and cylindrical. However, based on the images, the bottoms of the OnePlus Nord Buds will be flat with a round divot at the top. This will help differentiate them from the AirPods.
What to expect from these earbuds
Now, these are only leaked images, so there’s no word on any specs, so all we can do is speculate. Now, the original OnePlus Buds and Buds Pro target the mid-range and premium markets, respectively. However, we can tell that these new earbuds will target the budget market. We know this because the “Nord” name is what OnePlus gives to its budget-friendly smartphones. The OnePlus Nord Buds will most likely be the budget earbuds for the company. We can expect middle-of-the-road audio quality without support for certain audio codecs. Also, don’t hold your breath for noise cancellation or ambient audio mods. Lastly, we don’t really expect there to be any sort of water resistance. We’re expecting just basic earbuds with the OnePlus Nord Buds. As for the price, we should expect them to be somewhere between $30 and $50. For now, we’ll need to wait for more information to come out.
