This teardown will allow you to take a closer look inside the Mi MIX 4. You’ll be able to check out its under-display camera, rear camera setup, display, and much more. It will also help you repair the phone if it comes to that, of course.
The Xiaomi Mi MIX 4 teardown spills the beans on the under-display camera and more
The Mi MIX 4 is made out of metal and ceramic. There is a metal frame between the ceramic body and display, to allow radio signals to pass through. The phone is actually made up out of three sections, the teardown proves. The upper section is reserved for the SoC, camera sensors, memory, 5G antennas, and most of the logic boards. The mid section has the battery, NFC antenna, wireless charging coil, and dual-cell battery. The lower section contains the loudspeaker, Type-C USB port, and a vibration motor. It is also noted that the camera hole, even though under the display, can be seen when you hold the phone against strong light. In regular conditions, it’s completely invisible to the eye.
There are two cutouts under the display
There are actually two cutouts to talk about here. The main one is a round, centered one, where the camera sits. That’s where the light comes in, thanks to a special pattern of pixels. The second cutout is a bit lower to the left, as shown in the image below. That cutout is where the proximity and ambient light sensors are. That cutout doesn’t really allow much light to pass through.
You’ll find out, in this teardown, that the phone also has quite a few heat dissipation sheets, copper foil, and the SoC is basically covered in thermal paste. That should help the phone deal with heating up, and keep its average temperature below 40 degrees Celsius. If you’d like to check out the full video teardown, click here.
