But if you’re a Play Points Platinum member, you can get the TWS (true wireless) earbuds for just $59. Likewise, you can get the Fitbit Charge 5 for $109.95 (from $149.95) and the Nest Hub (2nd Gen) for $59.99 (from $99.99).
The Play Points program rewards users in numerous ways
Google launched the Play Points program in November 2019. It rewards users for engaging with the company’s Play ecosystem. Users can earn points on their purchases made using Google Play billing, including in-app items, movies, books, and more. Trying featured free apps and games can also earn you some points. You can redeem these points against special in-app items or for Google Play Credit that you can use to rent movies or buy audiobooks. The company also recently enabled users to redeem Play Points for app purchases on the Play Store, directly at the point of purchase. On top of this, you also get exclusive offers from Google. As you earn more points, you also level up from the base Bronze tier to Silver, Gold, and Platinum tiers. In South Korea, there’s a fifth Diamond tier as well. The higher level you reach the better the benefits get, including more points for each $1 spent. Once you have reached the top level Platinum tier in the US, which requires over 3,000 points, you will start earning 1.4 points for every $1 you spend within the Play ecosystem. Additionally, you will be eligible for in-game points events, movie and book multipliers, Platinum weekly prizes, and Premium support from Google. While these are fixed perks, Google also periodically treats Play Points members with exclusive offers. This $40 discount on select Google hardware for Platinum users is one of the better perks.
