That means PlayStation users could learn more official details about the service as early as Sunday or Monday. Earlier this year, details about Sony’s changeup to its subscription services pointed to a more inclusive and value-propositioned offering. Sony is expected to basically get rid of the PlayStation Now branding and lump the service in with PlayStation Plus. This new service will have multiple tiers, and each one will offer subscribers a little more than the previous one. The service is essentially Sony’s comparable offering to Xbox Game Pass.

Sony’s new PlayStation subscription service will debut with “hit games”

Sony’s new service, which will offer subscribers a combination of discounted games, a few free games a month, and games they can stream or download, will reportedly debut with a collection of “hit games.” Basically combining the offerings of PlayStation Plus and PlayStation Now. Titles will be from recent years. Likely as a way to kick things off and make the service more appealing. Showcasing the value of singing up or upgrading to one of the higher tiers. Those who go for the most expensive tier will get everything mentioned above along with a collection of game demos. Players can also gain access to older PlayStation titles from all generations including PS1, PS2, and PS3. What players shouldn’t expect is day and date releases. According to the Bloomberg report, Sony is not expected to offer day one releases of new titles in this service. Which means if you want to play the latest titles the day they come out, you’ll probably still have to purchase a copy. At this time, there is no expected release date for the service going live. Though Sony may end up surprising players and releasing it at the same time as the reveal. The service is expected to start at $10 a month, with the second and third tiers costing $13 and $16 a month respectively.
