Twitter started testing Android app redesign with edge-to-edge images & video

A tipster, Yogesh Brar, reported that he got the redesign, as did some other users in the comments. I didn’t receive it, nor did any of my colleagues, so I asked him to share a screenshot for us to check it out. If you take a look at the two images below, you’ll be able to see both old and new designs. On the left sits the old (current) one, while on the right is the new one, the one currently in testing. As you can see, the new layout pulls media from the left edge of the display, to the right. Also, if you include a caption in there, it will be in a separate row(s), not next to your profile picture. That’s pretty much as far as visible changes are concerned. Some people are not a fan of this, like the tipster who shared the screenshot, while others seem to like it, me included.

This new UI design will likely make it to everyone in the near future

Twitter will likely push out this new design in the near future to everyone, but we still don’t know when. The company hasn’t even announced that the test begun for Android users, at least not to my knowledge. This is not a major change by any means, but it does put images and video front and center, it definitely highlights them more. Whether you like that or not will depend on your preference, of course.
