The app does show user-reported police presence and speed traps on the route as you approach the location. However, it fails to send an alert for it. In effect, you can easily miss out on a speed trap unless you keep checking your phone’s screen for it, which isn’t the safest practice while driving. Worse yet, Waze does send the alerts sometimes, while sometimes it doesn’t. This inconsistency means you cannot rely on it, as you never know whether the feature is working or not. This doesn’t seem to be a very widespread problem but a long-standing one. Affected users have been reporting the issues on the official Waze forums for the past several weeks. Unfortunately, there’s no fix in sight yet. Hopefully, the company has seen those reports and is working on finding a solution to the problem. We will keep you posted as and when we have more information.

Waze is having trouble showing speed trap alerts

Google has always focused on driving experience for Waze while keeping all the extra bits such as hotels, places, and other listings for Google Maps. The former is essentially a driving assistant that can help you with a bunch of things while you’re on the road. It has also added several new functionalities in recent times, such as EV (electric vehicle) charging stations. However, the app’s community-based reporting system is still one of the most popular Waze features. Unfortunately, the aforementioned issues are ruining this experience for many Waze users. Though the issues aren’t widespread, we expect the company to roll out a fix quite soon. So if you’re having any issues with the crowdsourced speed alerts or any other feature on Waze, watch out for a new update for the app. You can click the button below to download the latest version of Waze from the Google Play Store.
